Kaivalya ~ Absolute Freedom

"Who am I? Who am I really? Who am I really really really, beyond all of my past conditions and experiences, beyond my relationships,my status, and beyond my many titles!!" This is the courageous question that Yoga asks us in every moment. To be alive is to truly search.

"The world of YOGA, with its myriad styles and approaches, may be likened to a forest filled with variety and color. Every tree in the forest has the same goal: to reach toward the light. One tree's method is not better than another's. Each species has individual characteristics which enable it to grow to its greatest potential. The various styles of Yoga are unique, yet all serve the same purpose: to grow towards enlightenment." (Described by Patanjali)
I feel that this sacred tradition of Yoga is far too vast ,much too magical, so completely full of diversity, that it can not possiibly be put into one category. We teach from all that we have been taught~ Shivananda, Vinyasa, Hatha,Bhakti, Karma,Jnana, Love, full experiences, art, adventure, movement, sound, and unabashed expression!

Nature is the rhythm of the Divine. A tree does not resist the wind, but flows and grows in accordance with it. I find my passion in nature; in recognizing my intrinsic connection with all that exists and noticing how I meet each experience; in combining the elements to create healing spaces that inspire, educate, remind and reconnect you with your own true nature on your journey towards rediscovering and creating your Self. I graduated from Naropa University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Traditional Eastern Arts with an emphasis in health/healing and Yoga. I'm a registered and certified massage therapist as well as a certified yoga instructor with over 1500 hours of training. My intention is to create a space for you to Be; a space for you to bring your passion, your ideas, your whole Self to be fully acknowledged and accepted as you are. I am a devoted student to life, to yoga, to love... as i know the roles of teacher and student are constantly interchangeable, and that there is always space to expand.

Lifes journey has brought me several gifts. Two of them are my daughters Syama and Dhyana. They inspire me when I witness how Yoga and Ayurveda have shown them how to live a healthy and balanced life. I began the Ayurveda Health Retreat in 2001, teaching Ayurveda and Yogic lifestyles. We have helped thousands of people from around the world. Yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences from the Vedic traditions of ancient India, the path before us is cleared by the grace of great teachers, physicians, seers from the past who have dedicated their lives to truth. From the time I was a young boy, I knew I wanted to be a part of movement, somthing bigger than myself. When I was 18 years old the moevement found me. A vivid dream foretold of a mysterious scholarship that would take me on a shamanic journey through the Brazilian Amazon. Nine months later the dream became reality. The trip was a path altering, spiritual awakening. I saw the power of Amazon Rainforest, the wisdom of its people, and the destruction our corporate consumption is causing. As I searched for ways to stand in solidarity with indigenous people and the land they care for, I came upon the realization that the healing of the world is inseparable from the healing of our own lives, and our own communities. I enrolled in the Naropa University Peace Studies department with the intent to find the perfect synthesis between the internal, and universal transformation. Kaivalya Retreats is a manifestation of this vision.
